The ankle support is excellent, a signature of the high-top "Jordan 1 Retro". They do have some weight to them, though; they're not ultra-light. If you're used to flyknit or mesh sneakers, you'll definitely notice the heft. It's part of the classic feel, for better or worse. Just unboxed this new Air Jordan 1 Retro colorway, and my immediate thought is... the materials feel different this time? The suede/nubuck combo is actually pretty nice for the price point. Throwing them on, the break-in period is real - these are not comfortable out of the box, guys. But as a style piece? Unbeatable. If you want a comfortable Jordan, maybe look at a 3 or a 13. This is all about the silhouette. Putting these Air Jordan 1 Retros on for the first time today... The fit is true to size for me, with a secure, locked-in feel around the ankle. Comparing it to, say, a newer Jordan model like the 38? It's night and day in terms of tech and cushioning. This shoe is about heritage, not performance. Great for casual wear and style, but if you're planning on being on your feet all day, maybe reconsider. Opening this box, the 'Gym Red' "Air Jordan 1 Retro" is fire. The red is vibrant, the white leather panels are crisp. Slipping them on, the ankle collar is supportive – but break-in is real, folks. In terms of style, they’re iconic and photograph amazingly. Compared to a low-top AJ1, you get more of a statement. Pro: instant outfit upgrade. Con: not the most flexible shoe. This is a go-to for making a visual impact, but not my first pick for, say, a full day at a convention.
