The iconic patent leather is swapped for breathable mesh & synthetic, which is the main trade-off. You lose some of that formal, dress-shoe shine but gain everyday practicality. If you love the 11's profile but want something less flashy & more durable for regular rotation, this Rare Air version makes a ton of sense. A potential downside? The materials, while nice, "do" feel a step down from a premium Jordan retro. The nubuck is good, but not exceptional. Also, purists who live for the signature "patent leather glow" of the 11s will likely pass on this "Rare Air" model. It's a different beast. For me, as a daily shoe, the trade-off is worth it for the comfort and versatility. It's about your priorities! Sliding these on... the fit is "interesting". They feel a bit roomier in the toe box compared to my usual Jordan 11 retros. The cushioning is decent – comfortable for all-day wear, no doubt. But if you're used to that super-snug, locked-down feel of the OG 11 mold, these Air Jordan 11 Rare Air models might feel a touch different. On-camera, the 'Rare Air' details really stand out. The lack of that high-gloss shine gives it a totally different texture - it's unique! Stepping back, it's undeniably an 11, but with its own character. For the Jordan series, it's a cool alternative. Just don't expect the exact same 'wow' factor when you unbox it, compared to a Concord or Bred.
