Who should "maybe" skip it? Hardcore performance basketball players — this isn't your modern tool. Also, if ultimate, cloud-like comfort is your #1 priority, look at newer models. And if you're a purist who "only" rocks Highs for that authentic look, the Mid's shorter collar might not do it for you. But for most? It's a "solid", iconic choice. Sliding these on... the fit is true to size for me. The insole is pretty basic, so don't expect crazy cloud-like comfort right away—they need a little break-in. The ankle collar on this "Mid" version gives a decent feel, less restrictive than a high-top but still offering good support. For everyday wear and casual ball, the "air jordan mid 1" gets the job done without any drama. Now, the not-so-great part. If you need plush cushioning for all-day wear or balling, look elsewhere. This is a retro basketball shoe in design only. Also, that stiff leather can crease in a pretty noticeable way. It's part of the charm for some, but if you like your sneakers pristine, this might bug you.
