I wouldn't ball in these in 2024. But for casual wear, the ankle support and flat, stable base are actually pretty good. The "traction" pattern on the outsole is simple but effective for everyday use. It's a shoe built on basketball heritage that found its "true" calling on the streets. Alright, so first impressions out of the box... this 'Hyper Royal' women's air jordan 1 looks super clean. The leather feels decent – not the absolute best ever – but the color blocking is really sharp. Putting them on, the fit is true-to-size and that classic AJ1 break-in period is definitely a thing. Honestly, if you want a comfy, plush shoe, this silhouette isn't for you. But for style? It's an absolute icon. Another con - they can be a bit narrow. My wider-foot folks, maybe consider going up half a size? The break-in helps, but it's something to note. The advantage, though, is that snug fit equals great ankle support. It's a trade-off, like many things with the "Jordan series". Comparing it to my other "Jordan 1s", this "women's" release holds up. The build quality is consistent. "However", if you have wider feet, "please" note: the toebox on AJ1s can be narrow. It "might" require a bit of a break-in period. That's a legit con for some people. But if you have a standard/narrow foot, the "fit" is true-to-size and "very" secure.
