I actually prefer the Mid for my casual fits. The price, usually under $130, is a plus. Downside? Some purists will always favor the High. But for comfort and style in the "Jordan" series, the "Mid" holds its own. Who might not love it? If you prioritize super-soft cushioning above all else, look elsewhere. This isn't a "comfort-first" sneaker. Also, if you're a purest for the original 1985 High OG design, the slightly altered proportions of the Mid might bug you. But for most people wanting that AJ1 style? The Air Jordan 1 Mid is a fantastic, more affordable door into the Jordan series. Comparing it to my other Jordans… The "Air Jordan 1 Mid" is noticeably lighter than an AJ1 High, and "way" less bulky than something like a Jordan 4. The simplicity is its strength. The break-in period was minimal for me—maybe one full day of wear. However, that also means less padding. It’s a trade-off. I’d recommend these for a sneaker rotation, not as your only, all-purpose shoe. Perfect for casual hangs, not for long walks. Sliding my foot into this "Air Jordan 1 Mid" 'Black Gym Red', the fit is true-to-size but "snug". The leather is stiff initially – no way around it. The flat footbed is the biggest thing to note; it's not a "comfort" shoe out of the box. But man, on foot, the profile is so sharp. It's a shoe that makes an outfit. Ideal for sneakerheads who appreciate the history. I'd steer clear if you have wide feet or need a lot of cushioning.
