Straight out of the box, the red is vibrant! The build is standard Jordan 1 quality. Slipping them on… immediate nostalgia. But my feet are already telling me they're not for extended wear. The toe box can feel restrictive. The major pro is its status as a pillar of the Jordan series. The con is the lack of innovation for the price. Who's it for? Sneakerheads completing a collection. Who isn't? People needing all-day comfort. Walking around in them, you feel connected to the ground – some people hate that, I kinda like it for casual wear. The ankle support is excellent, a signature of the high-top "Jordan 1 Retro". They do have some weight to them, though; they're not ultra-light. If you're used to flyknit or mesh sneakers, you'll definitely notice the heft. It's part of the classic feel, for better or worse. Alright, so first impressions out of the box? This "air jordan 1 retro" in the 'University Blue' colorway - which, by the way, will run you about "$180 USD" - looks sharp. The leather feels "decent", not super premium but it's clean. That classic silhouette? It's just iconic. You can't go wrong with this Jordan 1 shape. It’s a simple, versatile color-blocking that works with so much. Just unboxed this new Air Jordan 1 Retro colorway, and my immediate thought is... the materials feel different this time? The suede/nubuck combo is actually pretty nice for the price point. Throwing them on, the break-in period is real - these are not comfortable out of the box, guys. But as a style piece? Unbeatable. If you want a comfortable Jordan, maybe look at a 3 or a 13. This is all about the silhouette.
