If you're used to modern foam or Zoom Air, the ride here is stiff. The suede/nubuck can also be a pain to keep clean, especially in this all-black upper. And at $210 USD, it's a premium price for retro tech. Something to consider. Putting them on, the fit is true to size for me. The Air Jordan 4 Bred has a snug, secure lockdown around the midfoot, which I really like. The cushioning from the Air unit in the heel is noticeable—it's firm but provides good impact absorption. They're not the lightest sneakers out there, but the weight feels substantial and balanced, not clunky at all on foot. Walking around in them, the weight is noticeable. The "Jordan 4" isn't a featherweight shoe, that's for sure. But that solid build gives you confidence. The traction on clean floors is great. Visually, they look even better on foot. That black and red combo is just aggressive and clean. It's a statement piece for any sneaker rotation. Comparing it to other "Jordan" models? The 4 sits differently than a Jordan 1. It's more of a mid-top, offering a bit more ankle coverage. Cushioning is also different - the Air unit in the heel of the 4 gives a different feel than the 1's more basic setup. It's a nice middle ground between retro style and some performance.
