The colorway is super versatile. It's not just for skating; it works with so many fits. The gum outsole adds a casual, worn-in vibe right away. In natural light, the different materials – suede, leather, mesh – they all play together nicely. It's a shoe that looks great on camera and even better in person. Comparing it to my other AJ4s? The tongue is the big tell. It's padded and shorter, so it doesn't flop over—a functional SB tweak. Also, the outsole rubber wraps up more at the toe for board feel (or just durability). As a $225 USD release, these upgrades over the standard $210 model feel justified. Who should maybe pass? If you're on a strict budget, a standard retro might be better. If you "only" want the exact OG experience, down to the firm ride, this isn't it. And if you want a super flashy, head-turning colorway, this "navy" is more subdued. It's a mature, refined take. It won't scream for attention, and that's by design. On foot now, and wow — the difference is immediate. The main thing? The "cushioning". They added an "SB"-spec Zoom Air unit in the sockliner, and it's "so" much more comfortable than a standard AJ4. The heel-to-toe transition is smoother. It still has that classic Jordan 4 silhouette, but it's been tweaked for actual skateboarding (or just all-day wear).
