The design is so iconic – the mesh panels, the plastic wing eyelets, that heel tab. The 'Military Black' color blocking makes the details pop without being loud. On camera or in person, this shoe has serious presence. It's a stealthy flex. Compared to some louder 4s, this is a much more wearable, everyday kind of sneaker. Comparing it to other 4s? It sits right there with the 'Fire Red' or 'White Cement' in terms of being a staple colorway. It's more versatile than something like the 'University Blue' because it's neutral. Compared to a Jordan 1, the 4 is bulkier and offers a different kind of ankle support. It's a matter of preference: do you want a sleek profile (Jordan 1) or a more rugged, defined look (Jordan 4)? Comparing it to other 4s? It sits right there with the classic 'Cement' and 'Bred' colorways in terms of wearability. It's less loud than some of the recent collabs, which I like. Versus a Jordan 1? The 4 is definitely more of a statement shoe with its unique paneling and silhouette. This specific retro seems to have pretty consistent quality, which hasn't always been the case with recent Jordan Brand releases. Putting these on... the fit is TTS for me. The Air Jordan 4 is never the most comfortable model, let's be real. You get that familiar, slightly stiff feel around the wings and midfoot. The cushioning is okay—it's not Boost or Zoom, but it's fine for casual wear. The Military Black colorway just works with so much. It's a shoe you can throw on without thinking twice.
