The "air jordan mid 1" is about the silhouette and heritage first. It's not trying to be a luxury item or a tech marvel. Comparing it to my Jordan 1 Highs... the Air Jordan Mid 1 is simply easier to live with daily. The Highs are more of a statement, but these Mids are just effortlessly cool and less of a hassle to put on and take off. For the price difference? That's a huge plus in my book.
