The leather on a standard retro is "good", but on the "Dior AJ1", it's buttery-smooth and has zero plastic feel. The shape is also sleeker, less bulky around the ankle. However—and this is key—the iconic silhouette is perfectly preserved. You're still getting that classic Jordan 1 look, just… elevated. It makes my other pairs feel almost like prototypes in comparison, which is wild to say. Who should "avoid" these? First-time Jordan buyers, 100%. Start with a general release. Also, if you prioritize cloud-like comfort, look elsewhere—maybe to New Balance or Yeezy. The "Dior Air Jordan 1" is about aesthetic and status. It’s also not for the faint of heart regarding care & cleaning. If you want a carefree, go-to sneaker, this isn't it. But if you want a centerpiece for your collection, and you understand what you're getting into, then this might be your holy grail. Who is this "NOT" for? Practically speaking, almost everyone—and that's okay. If you're looking for top-tier comfort or performance, look elsewhere. If you're hesitant to "really" wear a $2,000 shoe and get creases... this will cause you stress. It's not for the casual fan or someone just getting into the "Jordan" series. Start with a classic colorway, not this masterpiece. From unboxing to on-feet, the "Dior Air Jordan 1" is an experience. The materials are, no joke, the best I've seen on a Jordan. Comfort is the same familiar, slightly stiff feel. Visually, it's minimalist luxury. Compared to my Off-White 1s, this feels more refined. Pro: Unbeatable quality and craftsmanship. Con: The cost per wear is astronomically high. It's a yes if you view it as a wearable art piece. A no if you need justification beyond that.
