The "huge benefit" is, of course, the comfort – you can actually walk in these all day. The "compromise"? It "doesn't" have the exact same stiff, structured look of the OG. If you've always loved the "Air Jordan 1" style but hated the feel, "this" is your shoe. Traditionalists might find it "too" different. Who should probably skip it? Hardcore performance basketball players (obviously) or folks who only buy sneakers based on advanced cushioning tech. Also, if you're super sensitive to a stiff break-in period, this might frustrate you. There are more comfortable "lifestyle" shoes out there for the same price, for sure. Comparing it to, say, a Jordan 3 or 4? The jordan 1 is definitely less cushioned. It's about the silhouette and the attitude. The leather quality on this specific release is good — not the "best" ever, but good. For $180, you're buying the legend. It's a foundational piece for any collection, no doubt. Sliding these on... yeah, the fit is TTS for me. Initial comfort? Don't expect anything revolutionary – the Air Jordan 1 is famously firm underfoot. It's about support, not plushness. The ankle collar gives great lockdown, though. If you're coming from a modern runner or even an Air Jordan 4, the break-in period for this Jordan Air 1 might feel a bit... "stiff" at first.
