The ankle padding is minimal, giving that vintage feel. Compared to newer J's, these are flat and firm. Pro: you're wearing a piece of sneaker history. Con: the outsole traction on wet surfaces can be "slippery". Worth the $180? For style and culture, yes. For technical performance or comfort, no. It's a clear trade-off. That bright white & "Fire Red" combo just pops on camera! Sizing is TTS for me. The silhouette is, of course, iconic — but the real test is on-foot... which brings me to my next point. Who should probably skip it? Hardcore performance basketball players (obviously) or folks who only buy sneakers based on advanced cushioning tech. Also, if you're super sensitive to a stiff break-in period, this might frustrate you. There are more comfortable "lifestyle" shoes out there for the same price, for sure.
