The ankle collar gives nice support, which is a huge plus for casual wear. Honestly, this is a must-have for any sneakerhead's collection. It's just that simple. Who should probably skip it? Hardcore performance basketball players (obviously) or folks who only buy sneakers based on advanced cushioning tech. Also, if you're super sensitive to a stiff break-in period, this might frustrate you. There are more comfortable "lifestyle" shoes out there for the same price, for sure.
