The "Nike Air Jordan 1", especially in a bold color-block like 'Bred', photographs incredibly well. The high-top shape is just iconic. However – and this is real – the toe box leather can sometimes look a bit cheap in certain lighting? It's hit or miss. For a $200 sneaker, you expect premium everything, but that's not always the case with every release. Just got these in the 'Shadow' colorway. IMO, this is the perfect "first" "Jordan 1" for anyone. Why? The grey/black leather is super versatile and hides wear & tear well. The $180 price tag is standard, but the value is in its timelessness. Downsides? Again, it's stiff initially. But break it in, and it molds to your foot. A wardrobe essential, for real. Now, the potential con: break-in time. That stiff leather can rub at the heel or pinky toe initially. It "does" get better, but the first few wears might be a bit... uncomfortable? Also, the flat traction is just okay on super slick surfaces. It's a casual/ lifestyle shoe first, remember that. My immediate thought unboxing the Air Jordan 1 'Taxi'? That yellow is vibrant! It just screams. This shoe, like most in the Jordan series, is built well. On foot, it's snug in the best way—my foot doesn't slide around at all. For $180 USD, you get a timeless design. The clear pro is the color—it's a happy, energetic shoe. The con is that it might be too loud for some people's personal style or work environment. I'd say this is for the extroverts, the ones who want to stand out. If you prefer to fly under the radar with your footwear, this isn't your guy. Simple as that.
